Turkish army officer killed in car accident

A Turkish army officer was killed Saturday in a southeastern province of Turkey when a military vehicle escorting a Turkish minister collided with a civilian car, Anatolian Agency reported. (UPDATED)

A noncommissioned officer was killed in the Nizip district of the Gaziantep province when a military vehicle escorting Economy Minister Mehmet Simsek collided with a civilian car, the state-run news agency said.

Another soldier and a civilian were also injured in the accident, it added.

The army officer was killed when Simsek's civilian escort car collided with a military vehicle, Dogan News Agency earlier reported.
