ISTANBUL - Turkey's Petrochemical Holding Corporation, or Petkim, signed a preliminary contract with Iranian NPC International Limited, or NPCI, to establish a methanol and polyethylene facility, Pektim said on Monday.

The polyethylene facility will have a capacity of 300,000 tons a year, while the methanol plant will have a capacity of 1.65 million tons, a statement issued by the company said.

Established in 1965, the privatization tender of 51 percent of public shares of Petkim through the block sale method, were handed over to Socar and Turcas Petrochemical in June 2008 for $2 billion.
