Turkey officially placed on record France's insistence on the exclusion of the term "accession" from the pre-accession economic program document for the 2008-2010 term, during the EU- Candidate countries Economy and Finance Ministers dialogue meeting on Wednesday in Brussels.

"What really disappoints us is the kind of reaction displayed against the term "accession" even in these kinds of technical meetings," said Turkish Economy Minister Mehmet Simsek, at a press conference he held with Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz following to the meeting. �

Simsek said the Pre-accession Economic Program document covering the period 2008-2010 could no longer be considered a joint document.

He also said that Turkey has never considered and will never consider any alternatives to full European Union membership.

Turkey's EU negotiation process faces political obstacles especially from France and Austria. France and Austria both press to bring a membership alternative for Turkey to the EU table.

Current EU rotating President Slovenia announced it would publish the document rejected by Turkey as "a statement by the term president," and would place on to the word “accession” in the press release.

Turkey is represented by Turkish Minister Mehmet Simsek and Turkish Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz at the meeting.
