TURKEY, February 15 - The Ministry of Internal affairs discovered that the "Zonaro paintings" reported missing were sold by Turing in 1998. The sale of the paintings occurred during the transfer by Turing of its enterprises to the Istanbul municipality in 1998 explained Turgay Artam, owner of Antik A.S (Auction House), who sold the paintings.
"The paintings are not by Zonaro as stated, but by Ohannes Kurkciyan. The paintings were up for public auction and sold, their income was given to Turing. That these paintings would be sold by public auction was published in all newspapers at that time. The mentioned paintings details also exist in our catalogue from 1998," said Turgay Artam when questioned on the missing paintings.
