Tensions are heating up between the ruling Justice and Development (AKP) Party and the nationalist leaning National Action (MHP) Party in Ankara. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, without specifically mentioning any names, took special care to criticize the MHP backed anti-EU protests attended by thousands in Ankara on Sunday, hours before EU accession talks were scheduled to start in Luxembourg. Co-chairman of the MHP Party, Mehmet Sandir, accused PM Erdogan of "speaking from his belly," going on to say: "The Prime Minister should be very clear in what he wants to say. Prime Ministers should stand behind their words. It does not fall on the Prime Minister to accuse the MHP of anything. Whatever documents he says he is going to reveal, he should go ahead and reveal today. Otherwise, MHP's response to the Prime Minister is going to be very strong. The Prime Minister's goal is to confuse and mislead the people." Sandir ended his words by inviting the PM to "act like a human." Â Â
