Talat: “A Market Of 10 Billion Dollars Is Being Opened; Let Us Enter Together”

Turkish Cypriot PM Mehmet Ali Talat said, “Even if the Greeks say No in the referendum, in short time, a market whose imports worth 4 billion dollars and the GNP is 10 billion dollars will be opened. Come on Turkish Cypriot, Greek Cypriot and Turkish businessmen and make business in this market together!”The Cyprus island will vote for the Annan plan for the European Union on April 24. In case two sides say Yes, which means entering the EU together, the biggest economic revolution to be realized immediately between the North and South will be the commencement of North and South into trade. Due to the Customs Union, Turkey will also be included in this trade. However, if a Yes from the north and a No from the south are cast, trade will not start for some time. A transition period will be of question dependent upon the pressure to be applied by the EU and the U.S. to the south. �
