The Minister of Culture and Tourism Erkan Mumcu, has resigned from the cabinet and the ruling Justice and Development party (AKP) over fundamental differences with the party on issues such as; the headscarf ban, adultery and foreign policy ( especially on the EU). Mumcu, 42-years and a law graduate, announced his resignation yesterday evening following the leave of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Albania for an official visit.Recent clashes of opinion between Mumcu and Prime Minister Erdogan caused Mumcu to resign. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Mumcu significantly disagreed for the first time over the "appropriations of lots" having a purpose for tourism. Later, Mumcu criticized some of the foreign policy practices, primarily the EU and Iraq. Mumcu opposed the Incentive Motion and refrained from signing it for a long time, as Isparta and Burdur were not added to the incitement list. The last straw was the discussion of "student amnesty" at the cabinet. Â
