Recent clashes of opinion between Mumcu and Prime Minister Erdogan caused Mumcu to resign.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Mumcu significantly disagreed for the first time over the "appropriations of lots" having a purpose for tourism. Later, Mumcu criticized some of the foreign policy practices, primarily the EU and Iraq.
Mumcu opposed the Incentive Motion and refrained from signing it for a long time, as Isparta and Burdur were not added to the incitement list. The last straw was the discussion of "student amnesty" at the cabinet.
