Restriction For Foreigners Is Removed

Turk Telekom's bidders will first participate in a process of obtaining information in which they will pay 20 thousand dollars. Communications Minister Binali Yildirim said, "The ones giving the money, may see our girl."
Yildirim announced the Telekom plan together with Metin Kilci, the Privatization Administration President and Erkan Akdemir, Turk Telekom's Chairman of Board of Directors.
Binali Yildirim said that for the privatization of Turk Telekom (TT), a new two-stage model developed by the Privatization Administration Presidency (OIB) would be applied. Thus, the application of receiving information, which is the first stage, starts today and the tender process, which is the second stage, will be commenced on July 15.
Yildirim said that those wishing to participate in the process receiving information would have themselves recorded to OIB until May 20. Yildirim also stated that the participation price was 20 thousand dollars and this was not a pre-requisite for participation in block sales tender.
Stating that the law amendment which allows amending the laws concerning the Communications Ministry was opened for signature at the Cabinet, he said that with the draft motion, the 45 % restriction of the shares of foreigners in TT's privatization would be removed.
