Remote controlled bomb explodes underneath cargo train headed for Erzurum; no one hurt

No one was killed but 1 wagon was toppled over and 6 wagons derailed in yesterday's remote controlled bombing of a Turkish train headed from Erzincan to Erzurum. The train, carrying metal and grain, had 6 personnel on it, none of whom were hurt in the incident. Authorities suspect that the bomb, found on the rails of the track, was in fact intended for the "Eastern Express," a more crowded passenger train that goes from Istanbul's Haydarpasha Station to Kars. As a result of a 50 minute delay in the Eastern Express, the cargo train which was hit was on the rails when normally the Eastern Express would have been passing through. Security forces and gendarmes coming to the scene of the explosion found a second bomb 15 meters from where the first one had exploded; the second one was detonated by the soldiers at the scene.
