The holy Ramadan month began in Baghdad bloodily. While the shock of the missile-raid on the Al Rashid Hotel – where U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz stayed – was still under way, Baghdad was shaken a series of consecutive bomb-raids on Monday. The building of the Red Cross and some police stations were hit and approximately 40 people died and at least 70 others were injured in the 7 consecutive attacks.
The spokesperson of the Red Cross said that following the explosion, some people opened fire against the building. After a short while from this incident, raids were undertaken on 5 police stations one after another. Some of them were attacked by bomb-loaded trucks and some others were hit by missiles. 28 people were killed in these attacks, one of whom was an American soldier.
