It has been discovered that Diyarbakir's Police Chief Isa Taspinor, who was captured in Germany with 8.5 kilos of heroin, remained in his position of power for 13 years even though he had been accused of 13 different counts of torture.
The crimes of Taspinar also include: demanding bribes of up to 150 million TL from police in the Besiktas Traffic Organization and threatening to replace them if these demands were not met. Although, administrative investigations were launched against him he kept on being promoted and became Deputy Police Chief in 1992.
In the last 8 months he has traveled 7 times to Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Following the recent investigation he is accused of working for drug traffickers.
