Kani Yilmaz, who after leaving the PKK became one of the founding members of the Patriotic Democrat Party alongside Osman Ocalan, died when his car exploded in a northern Iraqi city. The explosion is thought to have been caused by a remotely detonated car bomb, while Yilmaz was in the northern Iraqi city of Suleymaniye. The PKK have claimed responsibility for the murder of Faysal Dunlayici, who was operating under the code name Kani Yilmaz. The victim of the latest attack had previously cut all ties with the PKK and formed the Patriotic Democrat Party. A well-known terrorist, Sabri Tori, also lost his life in the blast.

Fidan had also been killed

Hikmet Fidan, executive member and later one of HADEP's biggest opponents was also been assassinated by the PKK in Diyarbakir. Fidan had taken on a role at Osman Ocalan’s Patriotic Democrat Party (PWD), of which the PKK disapproved.
