The PKK said in a statement its military wing known as "the Force of People of Kurdistan" had taken "two bodies of Turkish soldiers after the battle in the Shamzinyan area", AFP reported.

Fifteen Turkish soldiers and 23 terrorists were killed in the clashes when PKK attacked a gendarmerie station in the southeastern province of Hakkari. Two more Turkish soldiers were reported missing.Â

"The Turkish military used helicopters and we shot down one of them," the PKK statement also claimed. "We captured a lot of weapons," the AFP quoted the statement as saying.
