Pakistan hit by earthquake

An earthquake hit the Pakistani capital Islamabad this morning. The magnitude is estimated as 7.6. The epicentre is believed to be 95 kilometers southeast of Islamabad, 10 kilometers from the ground surface. The earthquake was felt in many Pakistani cities as well as Kabul, Afghanistan and New Delhi, India.

Pakistan’s Goa TV station has claimed that there are 29 casualties and also showed footage of two collapsed apartment flats. It is feared that the toll will dramatically rise if the rescue teams fail to reach out to those waiting in the wreckage in time.

In the meantime, one person was reported dead in Afghanistan as a result of the earthquake. It is believed that the Nanghar district in the east has been seriously affected eight houses collapsed.
