Oil from the Sangachal terminal in Azerbaijan is due to reach Turkey's Ceyhan terminal by March 2006. The official opening of the Turkish stretch of the pipeline will be inaugurated after the oil has reached the Turkish terminal and the first tanker has been loaded, reported the Regnum news agency. The Turkish terminal is due to receive oil following a series of tests which are currently being carried out. Ten billion barrels of oil will fill the 1768 kilometers of pipeline from Sangachal to Ceyhan.

Regnum reported that 5 million barrels of oil previously pumped in the pipeline are now approaching the Turkish section of the pipeline (1070 km). Ceyhan terminal consists of 7 oil reservoirs and a 2 km berth, where two tankers (with displacement worth 300 thousand tons) can load oil simultaneously.
