Turkey's parliament has passed a law which enables foreign investors to own a stake in Turkish broadcasting. The law, which is seen to encourage foreign investment in Turkey, will limit the number of radio and television broadcasters in which foreigners have a stake exceeding 50 percent to one quarter of the total number of national broadcasters. Some of the broadcasters that will be sold off have been held in receivership by the Turkish government. The most publicized of these is Star TV, which went into receivership last year following the Uzan scandal, when all assets were seized by the government pending an ongoing investigation against the Uzan family, into charges of corruption. Dogan Yayin Holding is rumored to be inline to buy Star TV. Â
