Turkey is now entering an era during in which it will have to overcome one of its most difficult obstacles regarding the European Union accession process. As it tries to smooth its path into the EU, Ankara has presented a proposal to Kofi Annan of the United Nations, which states that Greek Cypriot ships will be for the first time in 31 years allowed to enter Turkish ports. It is expected that the public will be informed of the proposal on Tuesday. Officials highlight that the proposal, which contains reciprocal concessions, is not one-sided. Foreign Affairs has not confirmed the proposal as of yet.
