The natural gas flow in the pipeline between Iran and Turkey, which halted due to an explosion in the Dogubeyazıt town of Agri, a province several kilometers (miles) from the Iranian border, will resume on Friday, state-run Anatolian Agency reported.

BOTAS officials said the restoration works were completed and tests would be run on the pipeline today, the Anatolian Agency reported. The natural gas flow will resume on Friday.

An explosion occurred on May 26 causing a fire to break out damaging the pipeline. Following the blast, Russian Gazprom has increased the amount of gas it pumped through the Blue Stream pipeline to meet demand.

Gazprom increased supplies of Russian gas from 22 to 30 million cubic meters per day, upon a request from made from Ankara.
