Germany's Interior Minister, Otto Schily, has announced a ban on the Kurdish newspaper "Ozgur Politika" from this point onwards. Saying that "Germany's security was a priority," Schily authorized a police raid on the bureaus of the publishing firm behind the PKK aligned newspaper. A statement from the Federal Ministry of the Interior said "There is firm proof that the European versions of the 'Ozgur Politika' newspaper  are tied to the PKK. The PKK is calling itself the KONGRA-GEL group. The news published in the 'Ozgur Politika' newspaper broadcasts orders from the leadership of the KONGRA-GEL." It should be remembered that Interior Minister Schily also banned the conservative Islamic newspaper "Vakit" at an earlier date. Â
