The Turkish Red Crescent, Kizilay, has sent a grant of $1.5 million to the US Red Cross to help in the recovery effort of the hurricane Katrina victims. Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin presented the grant check to U.S. Red Cross deputy chief Rosemary W. Mackey on Friday, while in New York for the UN Summit. Mackey thanked for the grant and said that it is a new expression of the relations between the two organizations. Speaking to the A.A, Mackey said that they welcomed the financial aid which was donated immediately after Katrina disaster, adding that they have financially helped 266,000 people so far.Â
