Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, who is in Malaysia for the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting, said that Islam countries should form a peace force to serve in Iraq. Gul told Turkish journalists, “OIC should play an active role in Iraq. I will propose this in the meetings. The credibility of OIC should increase. This necessitates some reforms. Especially, Moslems should be more active regarding the issues, which interest the whole world. OIC can form a Islam Peacekeeping Force for Iraq. I will raise this point in my bilateral talks. If we just sit and watch what is going on, then we have to accept the outcomes. We should take initiative and be active on such matters. If Iraq is a part of OIC, then we should not just watch what is happening to her.” Jordanian King Abdullah: No One Should Go To Iraq, Including UsJordanian King Abdullah called on the neighbors of Iraq not to participate in the operations in this country. King Abdullah said; I do not think that sending Turk, Jordanian, Saudi, Iranian, or Kuwaiti troops to Iraq will benefit Iraqis. Those countries having borders to Iraq have their own political agendas. Therefore I do not think that they should play an active role there. I do not think that you can see any Jordanian troop in Iraq.
