Greek support for bill recognizing Armenian genocide in US

The Foreign Relations Committee in the US House of Representatives, which is expected to take a bill proposing official recognition of the so-called Armenian genocide into consideration today, has received a letter from the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) in support of the bill. The message from the AHI was sent to Foreign Relation Committee head Henry Hyde, and was written by AHI Director Nick Larigakis, who asserts that not only members of the Armenian and Greek communities, but also of the American public at large, support the passage of the bill.
Larigakis says in his letter: "Sadly, up until now, through the powerful pressure from the Turkish lobby, as well as through threats and intimidation, the passage of this bill through Congress has been prevented."
