    Foreign Minister Gul leaves for Brazil

    Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul left for Brazil on Wednesday.Speaking to reporters prior to his departure, Gul said, “Brazil, which is UN Security Council member, has important roles in commerce and nuclear energy areas as well as prevention of environmental problems and poverty. It has a close dialogue with Turkey.”

    “During my visit, I will exchange views with Brazilian officials about international and regional matters. We will sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the establishment of a high-level cooperation commission, as well as cooperation between diplomacy academies of foreign ministries of the two countries,” added Gul.

    He noted, “Turkish Foreign Ministry declared 2006 as 'Latin America Year'. We aim to develop relations on all areas with Latin American countries this year.”
