Something catches my interest in the recent news stories published on the world media. They define the closure case against AKP as "the reaction of secularists".

Haberin Devamı

AKP officials, who are happy with the statements of the West and comments on the papers, don't react to this separation. But I had expected they deny this.  Â

If the closure case is "secularists'" reactions then how we should call the AKP members that were sued?

"As anti-secularists?"

Not to show any reaction to such definitions is only because the busyness we have?

Or don't they feel uncomfortable for seeing such a separation and being identified against the "secularists"?

Are we going to be comfortable with such picture that shows AKP and all of AKP supporters as anti-secularists?

If AKP helped the extension of such an image then it's their duty to correct it. I am saying the same thing since the beginning.

This case could be the starting point of a new understanding which will correct this image.

The profound and convincing messages that will be given to the world and Turkish society during the trail and defence process, will change not only Turkey's image but also AKP's.

Does the AKP do this? I am not able to be hopeful when I look at the things they have being doing since the lawsuit filed. Contrarily AKP is prepared to adopt a strategy to intensify this conflict.

This strategy makes everybody nervous. For example I am concerned with the efforts to change the structure and decision-making process of the Constitutional Court just to effect the trial process.

The warning that MHP leader Devlet Bahceli made is crucial. The Prime Minister and his staff shouldn't ignore this warning and in fact take it serious.

Because this attempt will start a debate over "AKP's legitimacy".

AKP administration say: "I have the majority. I can do whatever I want."

Yes it can do but if it does this then it will help to prove those accusations in the indictment, in which it says "aiming to establish an autocracy of majority."

Even the fierce supporters of AKP say the mistakes in the policies implemented since the evening of July 22 elections.

AKP started to take the "majority" as an uncontrolled power since that night. This rudeness brought us to this point.

If AKP wants to open a new page it should made the self-criticism for the past seven months. because if that attitude to be continued that means we are gradually become the autocracy of the majority.

We missed the chance to make a civilian constitution in the past seven months just because of this attitude.

First the Constitution was amended to lift the headscarf ban because only AKP wanted to do so.

Now they are trying to amend the Constitution to save the AKP.

Would it be possible to call a constitution that will be written by such mentality as "civilian"?

I would like to do my own warning like the leader of MHP did.

Efforts to amend the Constitution just to save a party mean pushing the limits of the legitimacy. We shouldn't forget that at the point where the "legitimacy" ends, "the coup of the majority" starts.

AKP should only rely on the normal proceedings of the legal process. The party officials should adopt a new policy that will embarrass the whole nation and not to neglect holding the "rope of the European Union".

A new opening and efforts for agreement in secularism will turn this rope into a very strong hawser, which will take the AKP out from the well hole.
