Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan greeted visiting Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu with an official ceremony yesterday in Ankara in front of the Prime Ministerial buildings. A joint press conference which followed a private meeting between the two leaders was lightened with talk of football.

During the press conference, one Romanian reporter asked PM Erdogan which Romanian technical director he would like to see in charge of the Fenerbahce football team. (PM Erdogan is well known to be a Fenerbahce fan.) The PM responded that he had really liked Romanian goalie and trainer Ilie Datcu, to which Romanian PM Tariceanu responded by noting that many of the reporters present had not even been born when Datcu played in Turkey. Erdogan then noted, "I guess that means we're getting old."
