Denktas Implies a "No"

Turkish Cypriot President Rauf Denktas said that he will disclose his views on the Annan Plan yesterday and "The important thing is not my by the decision of the people." Denktas said that he did not find anything to accept in the Plan up to now.
Pointing out that there was no cmopromise between Turkey, Greece, TRNC and the Greek Cypriot section and he did not know what will happen in a referendum on the text which had no compromise on it.Â
Denktas said that some improvements in the Plan were provided by the efforts of the Turkish delegation.Â
 "We shall be able to tell our views to our people, after evaluating the text. The most important issue is the properties . The map issue is drastic for us. What is the extent of protection over our political rights and equality? To which extent the Turkish guarantee is permanent? Mr. Prodi said that derogations would be provisional, and this means that we shall be left to the mercy of Greek Cypriots after a while. We have to evaluate all these cold-bloodedly. Â
