Nazim Kok, municipality branch leader from the Democratic People's Party (DEHAP), has been arrested for allegedly referring to the Kurdish militant, who was killed in clashes that occurred in Trabzon, as a martyr. The man who died was believed to have been a member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Koc, who attended that funeral of the Syrian-born militant, was reportedly quoted as saying: "He is our martyr. It is an honor to be present at his funeral. The PKK declared a cease-fire. The prime minister should take it seriously." Including Koc, nine people have been arrested by the court so far for promoting the outlawed group.    Other members of DEHAP, who were placed under judicial supervision by the Ankara 11th Criminal Court, also registered themselves with Ankara police headquarters on Thursday. Officials who registered included: Leader Tuncer Bakırhan, who has been banned from traveling overseas and must check in with the police on a weekly basis until the outcome of charges for promoting a militant group is determined. DEHAP had recently dissolved to join the Democratic Society Movement (DTH). The party officials have been known to call jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan as "sayın" which means "sir" in Turkish, a term of respect.
