Shipyard construction begins in Turkeys free zone

Five shipyards are planned to be constructed in Adana-Yumurtalik free zone, said executives of Yumurtalik Free Zone Directorate to Anatolian Agency. Construction of the shipyard, expected to cost $30 million, will be completed at the end of 2008.

Akdeniz Ship Construction Industry and Trade Corp. started construction works after getting Environmental Impact Assessment report.

The company belonging to Akbasoglu Maritime Group will construct the shipyard on 80.000 square meters area. Construction of the shipyard, expected to cost $30 million, will be completed at the end of 2008.

Around 500 people will be employed in the shipyard which will construct 6 ships annually. Efforts of other companies are underway to get Environmental Impact Assessment report.
