“The President knows that turban is the symbol of a kind of persistence against the secular Republic.He also knows that if he invites turbaned guests to the Cankaya (Presidential) Kiosk and shakes hands with them and hosts them, this will mean that turban is accepted even at the summit of the state. Therefore he states that Cankaya (Presidential) Kiosk is a “public place” and refuses to invite the turbaned wives of AKP deputies.”�
