Ankara has shown signs of stiffening opposition to Iran's insistence on going ahead with plans to enrich uranium. Spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Namik Tan, said yesterday for the first time that Tehran was hiding certain aspects of its plans from the International Atomic Energy Committee, and that this was linked to a decrease in trust for the country as a whole. Tan also noted in his statement that Turkey was worried about Iran's stance.

Noteable was that the Ankara Foreign Ministry was issuing these statements of worry immediately preceding the visit by the International Atomic Energy Committee's Gregory Schulte to the capital. Schulte is expected to meet today with experts in the Prime Ministerial offices.
