ANALYSIS - Global aspects of the Ergenekon investigation in Turkey

It seems like the Ergenekon organization is now ownerless. Because, let's say, this organization plans to kill 10 people and writes down the names of those people on a list.Â

Then leaves them discarded in a place that can be easily reached, or it draws sketches of the ammunition depot so as not to forget and allow the police easily find it.

Either way, yesterday another ammunition depot was discovered. And if this ammunition is not there to be used by the special forces in the case Turkey is occupied.

Then I confess I am scared for the first time since the operation began one and a half years ago. Because these chaotic bombs are enough to explode Turkish democracy.

Therefore if those arms belong to an organization formed by uniformed coup plotters, then they should be captured before it's too late.

But they shouldn't try to suppress their opponents on claims that they would prevent a military coup.

A civilian coup is no alternative to a military coup.

THE GLOBAL ASPECT
If you say where this Ergenekon case should be positioned within the global conjuncture.

Let me give you three elements:

1) Many fanciful people believed that the Turkish Armed Forces could enter northern Iraq, despite the U.S. army, until the PKK's Daglica attack in late 2007. Everybody learnt their lesson after Daglica. The contacts started between the Turkish Armed Forces and the Pentagon. Air operations against the PKK and a ground operation were launched.

But don't forget that the first dialogue in years with the northern Iraq administration was also established.

2) The AKP, who started to live in a fantasy world after the 2007 general elections, was woken up by the closure case. The risk of the AKP being banned has been eliminated with the active support of the EU as well as the United States.

The AKP is about to re-embrace the anchors of the EU and IMF.

3) The weakening of the AKP and the Turkish army could have created a favorable atmosphere for marginal and anti-AKP groups.

Therefore Ergenekon was invented and the opponents were silenced.

Essentially Ergenekon is a piece of the "American Peace" that was established in this country by force and blood.
