    Gazprom will fill the demand for gas

    Russia has said that during Turkey's icy-cold weather they would step in a fill the demand for natural gas. A visiting delegation for Russia's Gazprom Company held meetings with Turkish Energy Minister Mehmet Hilmi Guler and discussed the need for securing gas during the harsh winter Turkey is seeing. Only two weeks ago, Turkey registered a reduction in its Iranian gas supply sending worries that there could be an energy crisis looming. This news of a strengthened cooperation between Turkey's state-run pipeline company, Botas and Gazprom is a welcomed relief with the cold weather the country has been experiencing.

    The parties discussed perspectives of cooperation between Russia and Turkey in the gas sphere. In particular, it went about Russian gas supplies and construction of underground gas storage facilities. At the meeting the question of implementing projects of gas transit through the Turkish territory to the markets of third countries, to Greece, to South Italy, Israel and other countries of Middle East. The parties agreed to examine a possibility of establishment of a joint enterprise to implement the projects. Alexei Miller and Mehmet Hilmi Guler discussed a possibility of Gazprom participation in selling gas to ultimate consumers in Turkey, development of gas transmitting and gas distributing infrastructures in the country.
