    European Parliament Condemned DEP Verdict

    The European Parliament condemned the ruling of the Turkish State Security Court which upheld the prison sentences given to four former Democracy Party deputies.The resolution of the EP said that the 15-year prison sentence of the four former deputies "Showed the difference between the Turkish judicial process and teh EU judicial process." The resulotion of EP demanded from Turkey to release the DEP deputies as well as all the prisoners of thought. The DEP case will be included into the EU Commission report of October, which is very important for Turkey's beginning membership negotiations. Ankara 1st State Security Court decided to uphold the sentences given to Leyla Zana, Orhan Dogan, Hatip Dicle and Selim Sadak. If not released, these will be released next year.
