Relations with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan will be hit after he walked out on the Israeli president during a Gaza War debate, a government official in Jerusalem said on Friday.
"This incident does not affect relations between the two countries, but it will affect our relations with the Turkish prime minister who violated the diplomatic rules of the game," the official, who asked not to be named, said.
"The Turkish prime minister's behaviour was unprecedented. He could very well have done what other Turkish officials have done and make their criticism of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip in a proper manner," the official added.
Erdogan stormed out of a heated debate at the World Economic Forum at Davos on Thursday after clashing with Israeli President Shimon Peres.
Before walking off, he said Israel committed "barbarian" acts in the Gaza Strip, lashed out at the audience for applauding Peres emotional defence of the war and vowed he would never return to Davos.
