Ankara - U.S. president-elect, Barack Obama, will pay a visit to Iraq, his first since the November elections, sources told hurriyet.com.tr.

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama to pay a surprise visit to Iraq

Officials from the U.S. have not confirmed the report, citing security concerns. 

 

However, Iraqi sources said Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki had cancelled his planned visit to Iran due to Obama's trip to Baghdad.

 

Maliki was in Turkey earlier this week to meet Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.
