ISTANBUL - American producer and talk show star Oprah Winfrey visited Istanbul on Monday and held a party at Çırağan Palace for her employees and their families. Winfrey took all 1,600 on a cruise of the Mediterranean, sailing from Barcelona to Rome, Messina, Santorini, İzmir, Ephesus, Istanbul, Athens, and Valletta, Malta, on board the cruise ship the Norwegian Gem.
The television icon was welcomed by the traditional Ottoman Mehteran band at Çırağan Palace. The show included a performance of whirling dervishes and dancers.
Winfrey visited the Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet mosques and shopped at the Grand Bazaar.
Winfrey and her team were expected to leave Turkey on Tuesday. |
