 |
ANKARA - Turkish students started preparations for the world’s longest postcard project themed "Changing the past for the better future."
Initiated by Bulgarian painter Darina Yaneva, the world’s longest postcard will consist of paintings made by schoolchildren from the Ankara fine arts high school and the project will continue in Bulgaria. High school students in the Balkan countries including Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Macedonia will maintain the project and finally the world’s longest postcard will be finished.
"We realized a similar project two years ago in the southeastern city of Antakya and then the Aegean city of Manisa. We collected those paintings in a cataloge and delivered it to many world leaders with peace messages. Now this work that will be prepared by students and be the world’s longest postcard will be sent to the world leaders with the message ’changing the past for the better future.’ Also, the favorite paintings will be sold as postcards via foundations. Its income will be used for the development of poor countries," said Yaneva.
Speaking about the goal of the project, Yaneva said children needed a goal in their life especially after age 12. "Children at this age need to express themselves through tools. Painting is the best way to express yourself, just like other fields of art. " said Yaneva.
Yaneva said paintings made in Turkey would be sent to Bulgaria first and then to four countries. She said talks continued with some countries that wanted to be a part of the project. The project will be completed in two years, she said, and added that they would apply to the Guinness World Records. |
