The related draft resolution, based on the report by Swiss parliamentarian Andreas Gross, had been approved by the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of PACE on June 2.

PACE also invited Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias to address general assembly meetings this fall, the Anatolian Agency reported.
PACE had approved Turkish Cypriot parliamentarians to attend meetings the PACE general assembly and committees after the Greek Cypriots rejected a U.N.-brokered settlement plan in a referendum in April 2004.
