Turk gov't set hazelnut intervention price of $3.40 kg

The Turkish government will pay an intervention price of 4 YTL ($3.40) per one kilogram for hazelnuts in September, Mehdi Eker, the minister of agriculture said on Saturday.

The intervention price ceiling will be increased to 4.50 YTL ($3.82) for the October-November period and increased to 5 YTL ($4.24) as of December, Eker told at a press conference.
Sector representatives negatively assessed the government's intervention price ceiling. "This price falls below our expections," Ozer Akbasli, chairman of the Giresun Chamber of Commerce, told CNNTurk.
