Turkish exports plunge nearly 40 percent in May to $7.3 billionISTANBUL - Turkish exports dropped 39.97 percent to $7.3 billion in May, compared with the same month in 2008, according to figures announced Monday.

Turkey's exports in the first five months of 2009 totaled $35.8 billion, the Assembly of Turkish Exporters, or TIM, said.

It added that between April 2008 and April 2009 exports decreased 9.95 percent to $108.4 billion. 

Turkey’s exports fell 33.3 percent in April 2009, when compared to the previous year.
