The outlawed separatists opened fire on a gendarmerie team which was going to the rural area for a mission in Elazig's Karakocan town, the agency said.

In a separate operation in Dicle town of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, two separatists were killed in clashes with Turkish security forces, it added.

Another outlawed PKK separatist surrendered to security forces in Yuksekova town of the southeastern province of Hakkari, the General Staff said in a statement it posted on its website.

Turkey, like the European Union and Washington, considers the group a terrorist organization.Â
