Turkish warplanes bomb PKK bases in N.Iraq
Turkish warplanes bombed on Friday PKK bases in the Nero, Rekan and Nehly areas in the Amedi district of Duhok province, a news service associated with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani reported. (UPDATED)

Turkish warplanes bombed PKK bases in the Nero, Rekan and Nehly areas of the Amedi district of Duhok province, PUKmedia reported.

Jabbar Yawar, spokesman for the Peshmerga security forces in Iraq's Kurdish regional administration, told Dogan News Agency he had no information on such an air strike conducted by Turkey.

Turkey, provided with intelligence on PKK movements in Iraq by the U.S., has stepped up military action against the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist group by much of the international community including the U.S. and the EU, since December, carrying out several air strikes and a week-long ground incursion into northern Iraq in February, where more than 2,000 PKK separatists take refuge.
