Azerbaijani MPs to visit Turkey

ANKARA - A group of women parliamentarians from Azerbaijan Parliament will visit Turkey tomorrow in a bid to boost relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The delegation will meet with the Turkish president Abdullah Gül, the Turkish Parliament Speaker Köksal Toptan, the state ministers Nimet Çubukçu, Sait Yazıcıoğlu and the leaders of the opposition parties and Şenol Bal, a deputy from the Nationalist Movement Party, or MHP, said the visit aims to boost economic, social and cultural relations. Bal said the Armenian problem would be one of the topics of discussion, indicating that the visit would likely have a positive impact on Turkish-Azerbaijani relations.

Conference on Thursday

The delegation, which includes Lale Abbasova, Aynur Guliyeva, Ganire Pasayeva, Güler Ahmedova, Gültekin Hacıbeyli, Melahat Ibrahimkızı and Tenzile Rüstemhanlı, will first visit Atatürk’s mausoleum in Anıtkabir. Atatürk is the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Köksal Toptan will host the delegation tomorrow. The guest parliamentarians are also expected to meet Turkish President Abdullah Gül, Republican People's Party, or CHP, chairman Deniz Baykal, MHP chairman Devlet Bahçeli and state ministers Nimet Çubukçu and Sait Yazıcıoğlu. The women parliamentarians will hold a news conference Thursday.
