Turkish state-run radio and television network, TRT, will launch a new TV channel to broadcast to Europe, the Middle East, the Balkans and Central Asia, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.

TRT's new channel will start broadcasting in Turkish on March 21, Nevruz Day, which symbolizes the beginning of spring and is celebrated across the region especially by the peoples of Turkic countries, Anatolia, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East.

"We will have the chance to give our voice to the region where our citizens and kinsmen live. We will also have the chance to be informed about those places," Erdogan told a party meeting at the Turkish Parliament.

On Jan. 1, the state broadcaster launched TRT 6 which airs in Kurdish 24 hour a day.

Erdogan said TRT would also renew its existing international channel TRT-INT, which will air with a new face in April as a news and culture channel.
