“Throughout the 23 years of struggle against the divisive terrorist group, we have been unsuccessful in preventing membership to the group," he said. “If we had been successful, this struggle would have ceased to exist."

Başbuğ was visited Diyarbakır Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu in the wake of a PKK attack in nearby Sirnak that left 12 civilians dead. He promised that ultimately the PKK was doomed to fail.

"Our brigades have put a great amount of pressure on the divisive terrorist group in the past year. This pressure is going to continue throughout autumn and winter. We call out to all terrorists: It is not possible to achieve anything by means of terror; The best thing to do is to surrender and appear in a court of justice," General Başbuğ said.
