Claudia Roth, co-chairman of the German Green Party, and head of the German-Turkish Interparliamentary Friendship Group, spoke to reporters yesterday regarding last weekend's massacre of villagers in the southeast by PKK terror forces.

Roth asserted that while she thought the largely Kurdish-backed Democratic Society (DTP) Party must not be blamed for the recent events, that the "PKK must leave off its weapons immediately, and help create a peaceful environment."

In a later visit to the Turkish Parliament's EU Harmonization and Human Rights Commission, Roth listened to complaints from the President of the Human Rights Commission, Zafer Uskul, regarding German immigrant laws. Roth, agreeing, criticizing the double standards in terms of current marriage laws: "Yes, if I marry a Turk, and if my spouse wants to become a German citizen, he has to know very good German. But if I marry a French citizen, the same conditions that apply to Turks don't apply anymore."
