Queen Beatrix of Holland arrives in Turkey today for a 4 day visit as the official guest of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, accompanied by her son, Prince Willem Alexander, and her daughter in law Princess Maxima, who is 7 months pregnant.

Sources report that the Dutch royal family is bringing along a supply of Dutch soil with them, in case Princess Maxima goes into early labor in Turkey, so that the baby would be able to step first onto Dutch soil, according to tradition.

As a part of the official schedule, the Dutch royal family will be touring the Turkish city of Kayseri for half a day, this because there are many ethnically Turkish Dutch citizens who originate from Kayseri, according to reports. Queen Beatrix will also be meeting with representatives from Dutch companies doing business in Turkey, including CEOs and top level officials from Shell, ABN Ambro Bank, and Phillips.

Queen Beatrix will visit Istanbul on March 1, where she and her family will stop at touristic sites and also meet with members of the Dutch business community.
