French author Thibaux applies for Turkish passport in protest of France

In protest of the likelihood that the French Parliament will vote to pass a bill outlawing public denial of the so-called Armenian genocide tomorrow, well known French author Jean-Michel Thibaux had reportedly applied for Turkish citizenship.

Thibaux, whose novels "Cleopatra" and "Princess of Light" are popular even in Turkey, commented this week "If the Turkish government will accept me, from now on, Turkey will be my nation." Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who learned of Thibaux's request yesterday from the Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission head, reportedly told aides that "whatever needs to be done for Thibaux's request should be done." Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu confirmed this order, saying "Let Thibaux apply for citizenship, we will complete his work with speed."
