Prime Minster Recep Tayyip Erdoğan walked hand in hand with Republican People’s Party (CHP) Leader, Deniz Baykal, True Path Party (DYP) Leader Mehmet Ağar and Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the chairman of the TOBB, in a symbolic ‘stability pose’ as they entered the building where the General Assembly was being held. Speaking after this performance, TOBB Chairman, Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, stated that “polarisation would mean doing Turkey wrong”. However, despite their apparent unity, opposition leaders, Baykal and Ağar did not hesitate in criticising the policies pursued by Prime Minister Erdoğan and his Government.
