Landing in smaller areas
Baris Tozar, Deputy Secretary for Transport and Deputy General Secretary, declared that nowadays people aimed to get to their destination in the shortest possible time, and that time and speed had been important factors in the development of the air travel sector both in Turkey and abroad. Tozar highlighted that as a result of this, companies had had to consider ‘cost efficiency’ regarding air travel, the most expensive form of transport, and that large-scale activity needed to be supported by smaller-scale and regional activity. Tozar sees the taxi-plane project is a means of doing this, by providing flights to smaller towns where tourism, industry and trade were significant, and to smaller, more conventional airports in smaller regions.
